About the course:
The Cambridge Pre-U provides a valuable international benchmark of learner performance. It gives learners a strong base on which to specialise, and acts as an international passport to progression and success in the future.
The Cambridge Pre-U syllabuses aim to equip learners with the skills required to make a success of their subsequent studies at university, involving not only a solid grounding in each Principal Subject at an appropriate level, but also the ability to undertake independent and self-directed learning and to think laterally, critically and creatively.
Universities and employers worldwide value the Cambridge Pre-U qualification. They say that Cambridge qualifications develop key skills in investigation, evaluation and problem solving which are so important for university study and beyond
Who is it for?
Students typically aged 16-19 (age range is for guidance only). This is a level 3 qualification. Therefore, students may use Cambridge qualifications to gain entry to universities around the world including the most prestigious in the UK (eg Cambridge, Oxford), USA (eg Yale, Princeton, UPenn, Cornell, Duke, Columbia, Stanford), Canada and Australia.

Entrance requirements:
There are no compulsory prerequisites. Please consult specific syllabuses for any RECOMMENDATIONS regarding prior attainment at IGCSE, GCSE or other Level 2 qualifications.
Course structure:
Whitechapel College  offers Cambridge Pre-U classes in Social Sciences and Humanities subjects such as:
Business and Management,
Comparative Government and Politics,
Economics,
Psychology,
History,
Sports Science and
Modern Languages.

To qualify for the award of the full Cambridge Pre-U Diploma award, a learner studies any four Cambridge Pre-U Principal Subjects from the above as academic specialisms in the first year and reduces that study to three of those four Principal Subjects in the second year.  Learners also study Global Perspectives and write an Independent Research Report based on a research project that involves an individual investigation of their own choosing and agreed by the teacher supervisor.

Tuition and study:
The course is taught on a full time basis by means of interactive lectures, tutorials and directed study. Class contact takes place between 10.00am and 4.00pm on four days per week.   

Learning will be facilitated by well-qualified, experienced teachers who will be staff developed to appreciate the ethos of the Cambridge Pre-U system and will be familiar with their particular syllabus. 

Assessment / Examination
Written examinations, essays, presentations, written reports. Candidates sit their exams in one set, at the end of the two year course.
